Porsche AG, Stuttgart, managed to deliver 2,810 vehicles in North America in June in difficult market conditions; of these, 2,650 units were destined for the USA and 160 for Canada. The drop of 19 percent in total in comparison with the previous year was primarily down to the change of 911 Carrera model. At the fifth Magdeburg environmental forum staged by Daimler and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the two host partners called for the establishment of an infrastructure for electric and fuel-cell vehicles. Ford brand vehicles improved in quality at a rate faster than the industry average, according to a customer-based initial quality study released today by J.D. Power and Associates. Ford brand also is the only full-line brand to show continuous improvement since 2004.
The research firm's 2008 Initial Quality Study (IQS) showed Ford brand improving by eight points over last year's study, besting the industry average seven-point rate of improvement and continuing its five-year upward trend.... more

India's oil product consumption rose 6.3 percent in April from a year ago, driven by strong sales of cars and motorcycles in the month and cheap fuel prices, which are set to rise this weekend but not by enough to dampen demand.

Nissan Motor Co. Ltd., is announcing plans to enter the Russian light commercial vehicle (LCV) market in 2008. Nissan Motor Rus, will launch the NP300 pick up and the Cabstar light duty truck in September, this year. The range will be extended to six products by the end of 2011.

General Motors Brazil, along with officials from the Santa Catarina State and Joinville City, announced today the company's decision to build a new engine and automotive components plant in that city.
